Our education collaborators are working on programs to implement the app in STEM classrooms and clubs for kids and teens nationally and around the world to learn about how engineering shapes our every day lives. Kids and teens in these programs will be invited to connect with engineers through the app so they can meet and interact with professionals in their fields of interest. Please contact us to learn more about the program and how you can participate.

I am...

I am motivated to pursuing my goals. I have had a lot of challenges in my life, but I see them as learning experiences. I strongly believe on the statement "what does not kill you makes you stronger".

I chose to be a Electrical Engineer because...

When I was a child, about 6 years old, I lived in Garafiri, Guinea, where there was no electricity. My father was working as a security guard at an Hydro-electrical power plant that was been build there. One day, I went with him to his work place. He showed me the work that was being done over there and the purpose of it. He introduced me to his employer, who was the director. I told the director that I wanted to learn how electricity works. He replied to me that if I go to school and study hard, He will teach me. Since then, I focused on my studies with the goals on becoming an electrical engineer.

I want others to know...

Do what you really want. Find your purpose. Do not be afraid of failing, but be afraid of not following your purpose.

My STEM education has helped me ...

My STEM education has help me figure out many questions that I asked myself when I was a teenager. I thought an electrical engineer only works on Power plants, producing, transporting, and distributing electricity to consumers. Now, I know that being an electrical engineer involves a lot of things. I can choose multiple areas on my field of study.
Being a STEM student, also, opened the door for me to be a good team player, and a leader. As many of my classes involve group lab experiments, and group research projects where students take turn on leading the groups. It enabled me, not only to work with other students, but, also, it help me be a better leader.

This is My Story

I started school when I was six years old. In my family, everyone who went to school did not attendant, even, secondary school. I had this one goal, going to school and becoming an engineer. Pursuing this goal became a very big challenge for me.
In my village, there was no High School. Therefore, when I graduated from secondary school, my father found some relatives for me in the city so I could stay with them during the school year and study. I was sixteen and it was the first time I went to the capital city, Conakry. I enrolled in a High school which was not close to where I lived. I had to walk 7 km to school every day because I could not afford transportation. My father, and brother used to send me some money. I kept the money for my food and other needs that might come up. Two years after that, my father passed way and He was the only one I knew of my parents because my mother passed away when I was three. It came a very difficult time for me, but with God grace, I was able to graduate from High School the next year and start college in guinea.
Then, in December 2013, I traveled to the United States. I wanted to restart college here, but I could not speak English and I did not have someone to support me financially. Therefore, I found a job at a restaurant and I started learning English at New York City College of Technology ( CityTech). I worked in the morning at the restaurant until 3 pm and I rushed to school for the evening. The following two years, I learned English an passed the placement test that I needed to start my college degree at CityTech. Now, I am pursing the degree of my dream at CityTech.
